Bookstores that only a few years earlier laughed openly at inquiries for comics are now devoting huge tracts of real estate to graphic novels and manga (Japanese comics). Book after book, month after month, and panel after panel, i tried to deny the blatantly anti-Israel (or at least anti-IDF) undertones in Y but this issue takes the cake.

Art being the main draw of a comic factors into a majority of the comic’s Quality and appeal. Artie wanted me to say thanks to all the great people that showed up in Detroit over the weekend!

Comics present a unique combination of text and graphics. Comics, though mass produced, remain a very hand-crafted art form and perhaps share more in common with the illuminated manuscript than the printed book. Comic frames are traditionally used to illustrate a story in a short, concise format. In this lesson, students use a six-panelled comic strip frame to create a story map, summarizing a book or story that they've read. Comic Relief was set up in 1985 by comedians who wanted to do something to help others. The idea was simple - use comedy and laughter to raise money and change lives - while making sure that everyone had great fun at the same time.
